Washington DC (US), July 5 (ANI): Actor Jodie Foster suggested that Brad Pitt’s 2025 film ‘F1’ looks like it was ‘made by AI’, sparking a debate over the use of artificial intelligence in filmmaking, People magazine reported.
Foster reflected on the evolving relationship between film and technology, including the growing role of artificial intelligence.
“I don’t say this in a derogatory way. How can you say that? This movie went on to make millions of dollars,” Foster said during the discussion.
“But when you watch movies like F1, you think F1 was created by AI,” she added. “Really? I mean, the structure was exactly like the structure you learn in school. The actors say the lines exactly the way they would have been written if computers wrote exactly what was appropriate for that era,” the outlet said.
She further elaborated that modern filmmaking techniques and structured storytelling can resemble the output of algorithms.
“And they were able to take control of technology and create things that were big and beautiful and potentially had a lot of information coming from other places,” Foster said, People magazine reported.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, F1 stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a fictional F1 driver whose career is derailed by a life-threatening accident 30 years earlier, and follows his return to racing.
The film, which also stars Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, and Kelly Condon, was released in 2025 and then premiered on Apple TV in December 2025.
In October 2025, Kosinski told People that discussions were underway for a possible sequel following the film’s success.
“Given the reception of this film, I’d love to see what Sonny Hayes’ adventures are next, and I think audiences will too,” he said. “So we actually start talking about it right away and thinking, ‘What’s the next chapter in his story going to be?'” said People magazine.
The film won Best Sound at the 2026 Academy Awards and reportedly grossed $144 million during its opening weekend, making it the biggest debut of Brad Pitt’s career. (Ani)
