Denim specialist Jeanologia has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered laser tool created to extract precise denim designs directly from images.
Dubbed ‘Billy AI’, the tool aims to tackle the long process of converting vintage denim garments into production-ready laser designs and reduce the time required to just a few minutes. Its system analyzes images of clothing and extracts laser designs that appear to reflect the natural wear patterns of vintage denim.
As a result, Jeanologia says, the final design, optimized for laser technology, can be executed immediately, eliminating the need for manual retouching and inefficient production processes. The company positions the tool as a “denim design game changer” and claims it enables “industrial execution in minutes.”
“Billy brings intelligence to the creative process. For the first time, designers can convert an image of a garment into a precise laser design for production in just minutes. What previously took an entire day of work for a specialist can now be accomplished almost instantly,” Enrique Silla, CEO of the Spanish denim company, said in a statement.
Billy AI’s technology has been trained on over 9,000 laser designs developed by Jeanologia over its 25-year product life, allowing the AI to understand the characteristics of denim wear patterns.
Silla reaffirms that the tool “does not replace designers, but rather amplifies their creativity by giving them more time for creative exploration and concept development rather than technical restructuring.” “This eliminates the most labor-intensive technical tasks, allowing you to focus on what really matters: creating,” Silla added.
