Six of the world’s most advanced manufacturing hubs are located in Singapore, making it the highest concentration of such facilities in Southeast Asia.
These facilities span sectors from life sciences equipment and consumer goods to semiconductors and are critical manufacturing nodes for leading companies such as Agilent, Coca-Cola, HP, Infineon, Micron, and, new in September 2025, GlobalFoundries.
They are part of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Lighthouse Network (GLN), a group of sites that have been independently assessed and recognized for scaling Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies, from artificial intelligence to advanced robotics, in ways that deliver proven results across productivity, sustainability and workforce development.
Since the network’s launch in 2018, the number of WEF Lighthouses in general has grown from 16 to 201 across 30 countries and 35 subsectors.
Manufacturers in the GLN network typically achieve a return on investment (ROI) of 2-3x within three years and 4-5x within five years. Recent cohorts are transforming even more rapidly, reporting ROI within 10-20 months. This is about 25-50% faster than the early Pioneers.
Additionally, the latest WEF Lighthouse achieved an average 40% increase in labor productivity, cut lead times by almost half, and successful use cases were replicated across the global network much faster than before.
These facilities have moved beyond pilot projects to enterprise-wide implementation of advanced technologies, typically achieving significant improvements in metrics such as cost savings, quality improvements, and environmental impact.
The company’s presence in Singapore demonstrates how manufacturers can get support to adopt, apply and scale successful 4IR (Industry 4.0) technologies to drive efficiency and sustainability.

In 2022, Agilent Technologies was the world’s first analytical and clinical laboratory technology company to receive WEF Lighthouse designation for its Singapore facility.
The facility will deploy digital twins, machine learning, and AI to simplify high-mix, high-precision equipment manufacturing to meet growing customer demand.
More than 150 Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) stations equipped with AI algorithms designed by Agilent were implemented for predictive testing. These systems learn from previous test results and identify patterns to facilitate automated testing.
Robotics can perform highly complex tasks and reduce cycle times by 30%. We also optimize quality control through AI-powered visual inspection.
By adopting 4IR technology, the facility increased productivity by 60% and increased output by 80%. Meanwhile, we promoted sustainability through renewable energy and upskilled our workforce into a future-ready AI workforce.

The core team at Coca-Cola’s Tuas factory drives digital innovation and sustainable manufacturing practices.

Coca-Cola’s concentrate manufacturing plant in Tuas was added to the WEF’s GLN in 2024.
In the face of increasing demand and product diversity, the site introduced AI-powered demand forecasting and production scheduling, as well as robotics in packaging and digital tools for complex production.
The site also logged more than 5,000 hours of training through Coca-Cola’s Global Digital Academy and conducted a site-to-site exchange program to enable employees at all levels to share and adopt best practices for maintaining the new system.
This effort increased throughput by 28% and labor productivity by 70%. Stock shortages decreased by 80% and on-time delivery improved by 31%.
At the same time, indirect greenhouse gas emissions were reduced by 34%.

HP Inc’s Singapore facility earned WEF Lighthouse recognition in 2021 for transforming traditional labor-intensive operations into a fully digital, automated and data-driven production environment.
The company’s approach centered around four pillars: advanced automation, digitalization (VR/AR and IIoT), additive manufacturing, and data analytics (machine learning and AI).
The WEF Lighthouse certification is the culmination of innovations developed at the company’s Smart Manufacturing Applications and Research Center, which was established in 2017 to develop and introduce new technologies into manufacturing processes.
HP Singapore’s production line, which makes printheads and cartridges for industrial, commercial and 3D printers, deploys robots and autonomous vehicles to free operators from repetitive and heavy lifting, while AI-enabled inspection systems detect print defects at the pixel level.
Predictive analytics and machine learning models also optimize quality checks and line settings to reduce waste and improve accuracy. A factory-wide IIoT network connects machines and sensors for real-time visibility, 24/7 line monitoring and management.
The line can also use additive manufacturing to manufacture its own replacement parts, reducing wait times for new parts from days to hours.
As a result, HP Singapore’s Falcon product line has reduced manufacturing costs by 20% and increased both productivity and quality by 70%.

A 300mm semiconductor manufacturing facility in Singapore operated by US manufacturer GlobalFoundries has been recognized as a WEF Lighthouse in 2025 for implementing digital and AI-enabled solutions across the company.
The site implemented machine learning for predictive maintenance, quality control, and workflow optimization, and remote support tools reduced downtime and increased efficiency.
This has accelerated GlobalFoundries’ ability to deliver differentiated, essential semiconductor chips that drive the growth and adoption of AI while meeting the demands of rapidly evolving markets such as mobile, automotive, and IoT.
Digital transformation has also led to the creation of new roles, with employees becoming more capable in a data-driven environment and taking on leadership roles in smart manufacturing.
Since 2020, more than 60 transformation use cases have been scaled up across the facility, supported by partnerships with universities and solution providers, to co-develop smart manufacturing solutions and expand Singapore’s digital talent pool.
These results increased labor productivity by 40%, reduced new product prototyping time by 30%, and strengthened GlobalFoundries Singapore’s role as a key node in the company’s global semiconductor footprint.

Infineon Singapore’s back-end manufacturing facility, the Asia-Pacific headquarters of the German semiconductor manufacturing and design company, received WEF Lighthouse certification in 2020 for its focus on advanced manufacturing in the semiconductor value chain.
This facility is a WEF lighthouse for successful transformation of high-volume, high-mix manufacturing using Industry 4.0 tools.
The site integrates AI, robotics and advanced analytics to significantly improve productivity and quality, making Infineon more agile in responding to dynamic market demands. All manufacturing processes within the factory are fully automated, from production order scheduling to material movement.
The factory is currently being further developed towards automated manufacturing.

Micron’s Singapore facility, a WEF Lighthouse and Sustainability Lighthouse designation, is at the heart of the company’s global NAND flash memory business and green manufacturing efforts.

It subsequently received additional certification as a Sustainability Lighthouse, a designation for factories that lead in sustainable manufacturing, making it the first front-end semiconductor factory in the world to earn dual designations.
