During that time, we’ve been at the heart of the open source PostgreSQL community, and in fact are a major contributor to open source projects. We recently expanded our reach to accommodate the emerging GenAI ecosystem and extend our services to more platform models.
I’ll explain what I mean by “platform” later, but essentially we’re tackling head-on the big challenges that customers face today, like data sovereignty, AI sovereignty, and fundamentally how to access AI-enabled data. This includes existing company transactional and operational data.
Keith: Yes. These days, everyone on a show is required to demonstrate some sort of AI tool or feature. Doug: Yes, but it’s also where the energy, attention, budget, and influence is concentrated. Keith: Yes. So who is the main target within the company? Who would use this the most?
What role will they play? Doug: That’s a great and evolving question. Traditionally, EDB [database administrators] DBA or equivalent database operator role. Obviously the world has changed. DBAs are still important and remain one of our primary users.
However, database decisions have expanded to include application teams, platform engineering, and other strategic infrastructure roles.
