New Delhi, May 11 (IAS): Demand for generative artificial intelligence (AI) skills is slowly rising in India amid a talent shortage, with most organizations in the country entering generative AI exploration mode in the ChatGPT era, industry experts said Thursday. Stated.
According to a new report from tech staffing firm TeamLease Digital, there are 45,000 artificial intelligence (AI) jobs in India, with data scientists and machine learning (ML) engineers among the most popular jobs.
Nasscom said India currently ranks first in terms of AI skills penetration and concentration of AI talent, but AI skills shortages are currently being felt across all sectors.
While most Indian companies currently focus on AI-powered content generation in the enterprise space, there are several other use cases for generative AI.
A Salesforce survey revealed Thursday that only four in 10 Indian employees are using AI in their current jobs. AI is listed as one of the most in-demand digital skills today.
There is a disconnect between the skills companies need and the skills employees are using today.
While 9 in 10 Indian workers report using digital skills in their daily work, only 1 in 4 currently use AI skills in their daily work. Just over half (52%) report using skills other than management. .
“As more companies adopt AI and automation to streamline their operations and become more efficient, the need to train their employees to take advantage of these tools will grow even more,” said Managing Director, Salesforce India. By the end of 2023, AI is expected to create 2.3 million jobs, among the most in-demand roles such as AI developers, data scientists and machine learning engineers.
According to the World Economic Forum, AI is projected to create 97 million jobs by 2025.
“HireMee is researching generative AI for generating questions about specific skill sets and uses ChatGPT to validate generated questions and work with clients in providing feedback.” Venkatraman Umakanth, senior vice president and head of HireMee, told IANS.
Generative AI also requires a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics and programming, according to Humakanth.
“The demand for coding skills is certainly increasing, but we’re moving from front-end/back-end developers to full-stack developers,” he said.
