Veteran lyricist and author Javed Akhtar has strongly condemned AI-generated fake videos circulating on social media, calling them misleading and warning them to “report them to the cyber police”.Akhtar expressed his displeasure and warned that strict legal action would be taken against those involved in generating and sharing fake content.
“There is a fake video circulating showing a fake computer-generated photo of me with a topic on its head claiming that I ultimately turned to God. This is crap. I am seriously considering reporting this to the cyber police and ultimately dragging the person responsible for this fake news and the few people who forwarded it to court for damaging my reputation and credibility,” he wrote to X.The incident once again highlights growing concerns about the misuse of artificial intelligence, particularly as it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish between genuine and manipulated content online.
