Jammu, March 2 (KNS): A six-day capacity building and skill enhancement training program for officials and employees of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) concluded here today at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC).
Approximately 50 staff members from DIPR participated in the training program and received intensive training on artificial intelligence (AI) applications and modern media practices.
Dr. Dilip Kumar, Regional Director, IIMC Jammu, addressed the program completion ceremony and congratulated the participants on successfully completing the training and encouraged them to apply their newly acquired skills to their professional responsibilities. He appreciated their enthusiasm for learning AI Fundamentals and Applications, Advanced AI and Practical Applications, Print Media Fundamentals and Advanced Practices, and Electronic Media Fundamentals and Advanced Practices.
Speaking on the occasion, DIPR Co-Director (Hqr) Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Raina congratulated the participants and expressed confidence that they would put their learning into practice within the department in a professional and effective manner.
Professor Anil Saumitra and DIPR Information Officer Alka Misra also attended the general meeting and congratulated the participants.
During the session, Dr. Vinit Kumar Jha Utpal, Course Coordinator of the training program, presented a comprehensive training report.
Participants also received a certificate during the valedictorian session of the training program.
In this context, the program was launched on February 23, 2026 and was designed to strengthen the organizational communication capabilities of DIPR staff by equipping them with modern media skills in line with evolving public information needs and governance requirements.
The training program consisted of three batches. The first group received training in “AI Fundamentals and Applications and Advanced AI and Practical Applications.” The second group focused on “Fundamentals and Advanced Practices of Print Media” and the third group received training on “Fundamentals and Advanced Practices of Electronic Media” from February 27 to March 2, 2026.
On the first day, Dr. Vinit Kumar Jha Utpal spoke about the changing patterns of government communication. Click here to follow our WhatsApp channel Shri Bhawani Singh conducted sessions on fact-checking, digital verification tools, AI-based multilingual drafting and speechwriting. Shri Rajeev Kumar delivered a session on AI-enhanced multimedia and visual public relations.
On the second day, Dr. Rajendra P. Misra gave a lecture on government communication in an AI-driven digital media ecology. Shri Divyavasu Sharma trained participants on AI-powered crisis communication and guided them in developing AI-based projects. Dr. Dilip Kumar concluded the day with a session on AI Ethics and Cyber Safety in Government Agencies.
Day 3 focused on content creation and print media practices. Shri Divyavasu Sharma conducted a session on content creation and language design using AI tools. Shri Vishav conducted practical classes on print media basics, layout principles and QuarkXPress. Shri Gulshan Kumar guided the participants in the basics of graphics and image editing.
On the fourth day, Professor Anil Saumitra gave a lecture on creating press releases using AI. Dr. Ravinder Singh explained the basics of full-length novel writing and success stories. Dr. Vinit Kumar Jha Utpal trained the participants on print production using MS Word and Bhawani Singh conducted a session on fact-checking and verification of print media.
The fifth day was dedicated to electronic media. Former Doordarshan Jammu officials Ramesh Kumar Raina and Vinod Cheervi conducted a session on electronic media and camera basics. Dr. Vinit Kumar Jha Utpal trained the participants on AI-assisted news packaging and editing. Bhawani Singh conducted a session on AI applications for social media reels and short videos.
On the 6th day, Dr. Rajendra P. Misra trained participants of Government Communication in an AI-Driven Digital Media Ecology in electronic media scripting, packaging, and voice-over techniques. Divyavasu Sharma conducted sessions on emerging trends such as fact-checking, deepfake detection, live AI streaming and digital archiving.
