Signed two MoUs with the Uttar Pradesh government to develop scalable AI use cases.

IBM has launched an AI GovTech innovation center in Lucknow to develop and scale artificial intelligence solutions for the government sector.
The center will focus on designing, validating, and scaling trusted AI solutions to improve productivity, transparency, and citizen service delivery.
The aim is to build a replicable model that can be adopted at scale by government departments.
The move comes as governments face rising public expectations, regulatory complexity and exponential growth in data, making AI increasingly important to public sector performance.
The center was inaugurated by Yogi Adityanath in the presence of IBM Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Arvind Krishna along with Sandip Patel and Manindra Agrawal.
“The Lucknow center brings together IBM’s global AI leadership and a strong local talent ecosystem, with close proximity to leading engineering and academic institutions. This will enable us to turn our AI ambitions into measurable social impact,” said Krishna.
At the event, IBM signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh government to accelerate AI-driven governance initiatives in line with the state’s long-term development plans.
In collaboration with the Ministry of IT and Electronics, the center will develop high-impact AI use cases while strengthening digital and AI readiness across government sectors.
IBM’s Lucknow campus is home to software labs that contribute to the company’s global software portfolio and the IBM Consulting FutureNow Center, which enables local talent to deliver transformational projects to customers around the world.
The company is also collaborating with Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to co-develop scalable solutions in priority areas.
In July 2025, IBM partnered with Airawat Research Foundation, Kanpur Institute of Technology’s Center of Excellence in AI for Sustainable Cities, to introduce AI-powered solutions to monitor and improve air quality.
With the launch of the Lucknow center, IBM expands its public sector AI footprint in India and strengthens its focus on building scalable and trusted AI systems for governance.
