This practice creates a multi-billion dollar opportunity in Google Cloud services
IBM and Google Cloud announced the launch of a new Google Cloud Practice designed to help organizations scale AI to production faster and modernize core systems. This new practice combines IBM’s deep industry expertise with IBM Consulting Advantage, the company’s AI-powered platform that enables IBM teams to design, build, and deploy AI solutions faster using agents and industry workflows, and Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, cybersecurity, and data capabilities.
Powered by thousands of Google Cloud-certified IBM consultants and forward deployment engineers, this practice helps enterprises deploy AI solutions, modernize legacy environments, and manage technology across complex hybrid environments. This presents a multibillion-dollar opportunity for IBM and Google Cloud, and each brings unique strengths that are important to our clients.
IBM is creating a portfolio of industry-specific AI agents built on IBM Consulting Advantage and optimized for Gemini Enterprise. These agents support use cases in banking, government, retail, telecommunications, energy, security, insurance, and life sciences, helping organizations automate workflows, improve decision-making, and accelerate autonomous operations leveraging Gemini models.
A new partnership allows IBM consultants to design, build, and manage enterprise-grade AI agents directly on Google Cloud. IBM’s pre-built assets, reusable agents, and proven transformation methodologies can be combined with Google Cloud’s agent runtimes, governance controls, and enterprise safety features to help organizations move from design to deployment with speed and consistency.
IBM and Google Cloud have already partnered on large-scale migration and modernization efforts, including with Airbus, where IBM consultants and Google Cloud helped transform two aerospace businesses into fully independent businesses within 18 months by updating more than 100 critical systems across engineering, manufacturing, customer service, and other regulated functions.

“Enterprises are facing one of the most complex modernization cycles in decades,” said Mohammad Ali, senior vice president and head of IBM Consulting. “By expanding our collaboration with Google Cloud, we combine deep industry expertise, hybrid cloud modernization, and an AI-first delivery platform to provide our clients with a clearer and more reliable path to extending AI across their businesses.”
Kevin Ichhpurani, President of Google Cloud Global Partner Ecosystem, said: “This partnership significantly expands the number of Google Cloud expert consultants in the market to meet the rapidly growing demand for AI.” “Google’s agent infrastructure combined with IBM’s deep industry expertise and proven delivery framework will enable our joint customers to move beyond pilots and deploy and manage production-grade AI agents across their cloud environments.”
By integrating technologies from IBM and its ecosystem, IBM Consulting will help develop common interface patterns and solutions that connect enterprise data to Gemini using an open and flexible approach. These interfaces can be tailored to each client’s architecture, allowing organizations to more easily extend Gemini-based AI capabilities while integrating data.
This exercise will focus on several priority areas:
- Production-ready AI and data: By combining IBM’s industry knowledge and AI assets with Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and BigQuery, we help clients build the foundation to support real, proficient AI systems rather than pilots.
- industry‑Specific solution: We provide AI and data capabilities to sectors such as aerospace, financial services, government, healthcare, and telecommunications. This includes Confluent for streaming and managing real-time data so that AI systems can optimize operations, predict risks, and deliver results tailored to each industry’s regulatory demands.
- Modernize your cybersecurity operations: Provides AI-driven defense and security capabilities aimed at enhancing preparedness and accelerating response.
- Hybrid cloud modernization: Update critical workloads across on-premises and cloud environments, including in highly regulated industries. Red Hat OpenShift is now available directly in the Google Cloud Console.
- Enhanced AI‑Enhanced workflow: Gemini integrates with watsonx Orchestrate to improve decision automation and agent intelligence, and further integrates with watsonx.data to give clients a more flexible way to generate insights to support smarter applications.
- Operational resilience and governance: Help improve monitoring, compliance, and performance with IBM Automation and Google Cloud AI, supported by HashiCorp and Apptio.
