ChatGPT tasks have quickly become one of my favorite features of OpenAI. From a productivity perspective, it served as a reliable daily reminder system for work, inspired me to find more creative ways to use AI tools, and even helped me build a practical evening routine to protect my mental health after each work day. After learning how effective tasks were in my professional life, I started thinking that other parts of my routine could benefit from the same kind of automated help.
That’s what led me to the game. My video game fandom knows no limits. I bounce between different genres and love both AAA blockbusters and indie releases. As a PS5 Pro, Xbox Series

Find the right prompts to find the right deals
To start this process, I first asked ChatGPT for help creating good prompts that I could turn into daily tasks. Below are the best 7 that I have generated for your use, based on my recollection of past video game themed questions and requests.
- “Tell me only when it’s cheap” Tracker: Please check daily [time] About the discount [names of games]. Please only notify me if it drops below $30. Include platform, current price, and discount percentage.
- Digest of “Best Sale”: every [day] in [time]Submit your roundup of the 10 best video games on sale at , PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Nintendo eShop. Prioritize discounts of 50% or more and include links and prices.

After noting these seven available prompts, I directed the task to use the weekly “Best Deals” digest, platform-specific deal sniper, and genre-based deal finder. For the three prompts I chose, I set them to Fridays at 5:00 PM, 5:15 PM, and 5:25 PM.
3 major discounts that caught my attention
Last Friday, ChatGPT alerted me to three deals that I never would have discovered on my own. Even better, each discount was tied to a game I planned to buy once the price was right.
One prompt has Dark Souls Remastered on sale for $19.99 (down from $39.99) on the PlayStation Store and INSIDE on the Microsoft Store for $3.74 (down from $24.99). Another let us know that the Metro Saga bundle, which includes all three Metro games and the Metro Exodus DLC, has been reduced from $59.99 to just $5.99. The third prompt highlighted that the FighterZ Edition of Dragon Ball FighterZ for PS5 is discounted from $89.99 to $14.39 on the PlayStation Store.
What I appreciated most was that each task included the exact details I was looking for, including the discount percentage, Metacritic score, and a brief explanation of why each deal was worth considering.
final thoughts
I’m finally in the mood to check out the classic “Soulslike” experience, soak up the spooky atmosphere of the highly rated puzzle platformer, and finally experience the Metro series before the latest installment (metro 2039) and got the PS5 version of your favorite fighter to try out the latest DLC characters. The task worked like a charm to find the best deals for those different gaming experiences.
Tasks is great for not only generating reminders for birthdays and work-related events, but also for being the first to know about deals you can’t miss on your favorite things. In my case, this helped me find the best discount on a game I’ve had my eye on for years.
