Apple's app of the year suggests the tech giant is dedicated to helping iPhone users organize in 2025.
Tiimo is an AI-powered visual planner marketed to people with neurodivergent brains. Tiimo combines an AI chatbot with a traditional planner, featuring to-do lists, daily tasks, and reminders. It's free to download and use, but a premium version is available for $10 per month.
Tiimo took the top spot for Best iPhone App of 2025 at the App Store Awards after being a finalist in Apple's Design Awards in 2024. This beat out fellow finalists BandLab and Ladder, which Apple described as tools for refining daily life workflows.
Tiimo was ranked No. 33 among productivity apps in the App Store on Thursday, and rose to No. 4 on Friday following Apple's award.
The Copenhagen-based company began in 2015 as a research project on neurodivergent teens by founders Melissa Wurz-Azzari and Helen Lassen Norem, and has since evolved into an app to support people with ADHD, autism, or a preference for visual organization.
The pair raised $4.7 million in a funding round in August 2024, according to PitchBook. Timo did not respond to requests for comment.
I consider myself a neurodivergent, so I tried out the free version for a few days to see if it helped me make my life more meaningful.
When I first opened it, the app design was minimal and easy.
It looked like a blank physical planner in digital form. Timo
It was very easy to understand the app as soon as I opened it. There were four tabs at the bottom of the home screen: a to-do list, daily tasks, a “Focus” tab, and a weekly summary.
Click the floating icon in the bottom corner to chat with your AI assistant. The daily tasks section is categorized into tasks that can be done at any time of the day, morning, afternoon, or evening.
Planned your schedule using an AI assistant
The chatbot was conversational and helpful. Timo
The Tiimo chatbot worked just like any other chatbot I've used. There were prompts that you could choose from to create tasks and to-do items.
I started with a simple prompt to plan my week. The feature worked smoothly, except for one error message where the initial query had to be sent twice.
They understood my requirements very well and created an entry that was exactly what I was looking for.
I tested it with some of my daily tasks
The chatbot was smart and handled my prompts well. Timo
I like to go with the flow, so I don't usually structure my day around tasks that need to be completed. But I thought it would be useful to have a reminder for some of the things I have to do each day.
I started by setting a schedule that included tasks like walking my two dogs twice a day and taking my medication. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the chatbot handled setting up tasks based on my prompts.
I love how it automatically matches themed emojis to your to-do list.
I used the To Do section for things I don't need to do every day
I used a to-do list for tasks that don't happen every day. Timo
I had some chores to do on Thursday, so I logged them in the to-do section instead of my daily tasks. I wanted to be responsible for doing the dishes, going to the store, and making the bed. Granted, I don't make my bed every day, so I marked it as a low priority item.
I entered these manually without using the AI assistant, and the app still generated the corresponding emoji for each item. You could also choose your own emoji if you wanted to change it.
Then it's time to cross chores off the list
There are reminders and timers to keep you on top of your schedule. Timo
After work, I received a reminder to walk the dog at 6am and a 30-minute focus timer started. Using the app, I was able to listen to background music while walking. I finished my walk early and ended the timer.
My dog won't let me forget to take his meds, but I often forget to take them during the day. It's really convenient to have reminders appear on your iPhone's lock screen.
Overall, I've found Tiimo to be very helpful in organizing my day since I don't use written to-do lists and rely on my brain to record everything I need to do. I loved being able to throw things into the AI chat and have the virtual assistant send me reminders to remind me to mark things off my daily list. Consistency is difficult for me, but I would like to continue using Tiimo to change that.
