hyderabad: Although artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have little direct relevance to their fields, many students in Hyderabad spend their summers pursuing qualifications in these fields. As AI reshapes industries, students see these skills as an added advantage in an increasingly competitive job market. Students from engineering, management, and even humanities are enrolling in online and offline AI courses to secure their future careers.
Varun Batula, a third-year mechanical engineering student, believes that knowledge of AI will soon become mandatory. “AI-powered automation is transforming manufacturing, and if you don’t learn at least the basics, you may have a hard time finding a good job,” he says. Many like him are taking courses in AI-driven design and simulation to stay ahead.
Business and finance students are also recognizing the growing role of AI in data analysis and decision-making. N. Shreya, an MBA student, is taking a machine learning course alongside her finance specialization through a university certificate course. “AI-driven analytics is changing the way businesses operate, and knowing how to work with AI can help you differentiate when applying for a job,” she explains.
Students without specialized knowledge are also adapting. Journalism, marketing, and psychology students are studying the role of AI in content creation, consumer behavior analysis, and mental health tools. Mass communication student Nadeem Ali is receiving training in content generation using AI. “As AI creates news and ad copy, we need to understand how it works so we can use it rather than replace it,” he says.
Education experts see this trend only increasing. Educational institutions across Hyderabad are reporting an increase in enrollments for short courses in AI and ML, while online platforms are also seeing an increase in the participation of non-tech students. AI may not be mandatory for every career yet, but students in Hyderabad are preparing for a future where it is.
