When participants were shown AI-generated design suggestions, they spent more time working on the car’s design, produced better designs, and felt more involved, the study authors noted.

“It wasn’t just about efficiency; it was about creativity and collaboration,” Sean Walton, associate professor of computer science at Swansea University in Wales and lead author of the study, said in a statement.
