Artificial intelligence (AI) is a powerful and common educational tool that can be used as part of assessment. While AI tools make learning easier, it’s important to remember to use them responsibly, ethically, and with integrity.
Because the use of AI is part of the university’s academic integrity expectations, we have introduced new requirements to ensure that we can be transparent about the use of AI. AI approval.
from November 17, 2025If your subject allows the use of AI in assessments, AI approval – Even if you don’t use AI.
The type of authorization form you use depends on the type of AI use allowed in your assessment.
For more information on the types of AI uses you are allowed to use and AI approvals, please visit Evaluation section Subject LMS.
You can submit your approval via an online form in your LMS or a Word document in the subject line. If the submission information in your subject LMS is not clear, please contact your subject coordinator for advice.
what to expect
Each subject’s LMS clearly outlines:
- Whether AI is allowed in the assessment.
- What types of AI are allowed to be used?
- Which AI authorizations should I submit?
How do I submit the form?
Depending on the subject, you can submit your approval using one of two forms:
- Word document. Available from the Ratings section of the LMS site.
- Online survey (also available in the ratings section of the LMS site)
Check the LMS for subject-specific instructions. Not all subjects are the same, so the submission steps may vary from subject to subject. If you are unsure, please contact your subject coordinator for clarification.
Understand the AI rating scale
The AI rating scale is used to provide guidance on the appropriate use of AI in assessment and outlines how to use generated AI in assessment tasks.
Each assessment task includes a statement in the LMS that indicates what type of AI usage is acceptable. For more information about statements and a handy quick reference guide, see the Library Guides Generative AI in Assignments web page.
