Mark Zuckerberg's Meta software engineers can earn up to $480,000 a year, with a machine learning position of $440,000. Even the company's product designers and researchers earn more than $200,000.
As Business Insider reports, citing data from federal documents, these numbers only reflect annual sals except stock options, bonuses and other benefits that allow you to double or triple the entire compensation package.
While tech companies are usually trembling closely about compensation, U.S. government mandatory disclosures have given us a glimpse into the actual wage measures of Meta. The figures come from documents businesses must submit to the U.S. Department of Labor when hiring foreign workers under the H-1B visa program, so 85,000 specialist workers can be brought in each year through the lottery system.
This data comes amidst a fierce competition among AI talents in Silicon Valley. Meta is reportedly offering up to $300 million AI researcher compensation packages over four years as it is building a new Superintelligence Lab.

As a reminder, Mark Zuckerberg's Meta Corporation has launched a massive recruitment for top AI researchers, offering up to $300 million in compensation packages over four years, with over $100 million paid in the first year that includes stocks. Media reports show that at least 10 offers were received by Openai employees, but not all of them accepted them.
Mark Zuckerberg personally reaches out to candidates and promises unlimited access to computing resources, including GPUs, which are important for AI research. Some people at Openai are hesitant and believe they have little impact on meta.
Openai responded sharply. Chief Science Officer Mark Chen compared Meta's actions to “stealing from the house,” and CEO Sam Altman called it “bad taste” in an internal memo, emphasizing that “missioners will beat the mercenary.” Openai is considering compensation to keep you talented. “I've been less confident in my research strategy than I am now. We have an unprecedented bet on the power of computing, so I believe we will use it for our best capabilities,” writes Altman.
