Domo, the cloud-native data specialist, has released a special edition of their popular Data Never Sleeps (DNS) infographic, focusing on the pervasiveness of artificial intelligence.
An expansion of Domo's award-winning annual DNS report, this AI edition takes a deeper look at the massive amount of AI data being generated every minute and its impact on our daily lives.
“ChatGPT put the spotlight on LLM, making it clear to everyone how impactful AI can be, and as a result, we've seen a flurry of AI applications emerge,” said Ben Schein, SVP of Product at Domo.

Advantages of automation: Beyond conversation use cases, users are increasingly using LLM for designing, driving, and more. Every minute, Dall-E 2 generates 1,389 images, 19,028 are produced by other text-to-image platforms, and 7,431 minutes of AI-generated video. Today, 35 new cars with hands-free automation are sold every minute around the world.
Pros and cons of AI: While AI is extremely beneficial in many scenarios, other uses are less so. Employees use ChatGPT to save 467,882 hours of work per minute. However, some are also using its writing features for school assignments. Turnitin flags 52 college papers per minute as AI plagiarism.
The price we pay: Nothing is free, especially when it comes to technology. $293,000 is spent on AI every minute. In addition to the financial expense, up to 185 gallons of water are used to cool the heat generated by the computing power of the ChatGPT supercomputer.
