Honor announced two new Android tablets today at an event where it also revealed the Magic V3 and Magic Vs3 foldable tablets.
The first tablet is the MagicPad 2, which has a 12.3-inch OLED screen and a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. The second is the Pad 9 Pro, a Dimensity 8100-powered tablet for distance learning.
Honor Magic Pad 2
The MagicPad 2 moves to an OLED panel, improving on the LCD of its predecessor, the MagicPad 13. The 10-bit panel supports refresh rates up to 144Hz, a resolution of 3,000 x 1,920 pixels (290 ppi), and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits.
Honor revealed that the PWM dimming is 4,320Hz and the panel is certified by TUV Rheinland to protect your eyes from flicker and blue light.
The tablet is just 5.8mm thin, taking up a smaller footprint than the first MagicPad, but Honor has retained the 10,050mAh battery that supports 66W wired charging. The company has also retained the 13MP main camera and 9MP front-facing camera.
The MagicPad 2 comes with Android 14-based MagicOS 8.0 out of the box and has a lot of AI features powered by the Qualcomm chipset. Multitasking has some additional features and can recognize handwritten mathematical expressions, handwritten characters, geometric shapes, and object identification.
The tablet has Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 6, and supports the latest stylus, the Magic Pen 3. It has eight speakers and is IMAX Enhanced audio and video certified, though there is no cellular-connected version available.
The Honor MagicPad 2 comes in three colors: White, Black, and Cyan. Memory options are 8/256GB, 12/256GB, 16/512GB, and a powerful 16GB + 1TB version. Prices start at CNY2,899 ($400/€367) and go up to CNY4,199 ($580/€530).
The tablet is available for pre-order on the Honor China online store, with sales starting in just seven days on July 19th.
Honorpad 9 Pro
The Honor Pad series is aimed at people of all ages looking for a budget-conscious solution to help them study and learn on the go.
The Pad 9 Pro builds on the Pad 9 with a brighter, faster screen: the 12.1-inch LCD is still there, but now the refresh rate is 144Hz and the resolution is 2.5K (2,560 x 1,600 pixels).
Interestingly, Honor has equipped the Pad 9 Pro with two different displays: one is a regular LCD and the other has an anti-blue light and anti-flicker coating.
Compared to its 12.1-inch predecessor, the Pad 9 Pro has a smaller size, thinner bezels, and, more importantly, a roughly 20% increase in battery capacity to 10,050 mAh.
The Mediatek chipset is coupled with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The tablet comes with Magic OS 8.0.
The Honor Pad 9 Pro supports the new Honor Magic Pen 3 stylus and is also available with an optional keyboard accessory.
The Honor Pad 9 Pro is available now, in grey or blue, with prices starting at 2,199 RMB ($300/€280), with a model with a protective screen costing an extra 200 RMB ($27/€25). The company has brought its last two Pad tablets to international markets, and we're hoping this one will be available worldwide as well.
