Healthcare communications and commercialization platform Assembled Intelligence has promoted Chuck Hemann to chief business and AI officer, effective immediately.
In his expanded role, Heman will lead a dedicated AI practice team and set the strategic vision for building, deploying and scaling AI capabilities across the platform division, according to a company statement.
The platform said the appointment formalizes Assembled Intelligence’s AI capabilities and signals to life sciences customers that AI-enabled expert services are now available across the full spectrum of their communications and commercialization needs.
Assembled Intelligence and healthcare marketing firm Minds + Assembly, which launched the platform last year, has been investing in AI for years on an experimental basis based on customer demand, Heman explained. Over the past year, as technology advances, the platform has decided to elevate its practices to become a more central part of the work it offers.
“There’s a lot of talk about AI applications for advertising, marketing and communications, but there’s also a lot of applications in medical communications for science strategy and value communication,” Heman said. “My job is so exciting because it’s really never-ending.”
In his newly created role, Heman will report directly to Assembled Intelligence CEO Mark Lydiat.
The combined AI team is comprised of approximately 20 staff members in addition to leaders including Harry Sherman, vice president of innovation and AI, Alyssa Malone, senior vice president and group director of integration and innovation, and Jake Pistotnik, lead of AI engineering.
The platform says the practice is supported by a growing network of embedded AI leads drawn from across the platform’s disciplines, including brand strategy, client services, project management, design, scientific strategy and writing, who are driving the adoption and building of automation into daily workflows.
The core premise of this practice is not to formally organize a group of technologists focused on AI, but rather to bring together a group of individuals and technologists led by experts to drive change within the business. Heman said this is a different model from how other agencies have approached AI.
“The idea is that we have a core group that supports the organization through building new AI-powered capabilities, helps automate appropriate workflows, and onboards third-party AI technology, supported by brand strategists, client services, design, writing, scientific strategy, and individuals all dedicated to the AI workstream,” he said.
Among the capabilities currently in active use across the platform is a unique disease area intelligence engine that integrates public evidence, real-world data, behavioral science, and the competitive environment to deliver decision-ready intelligence for teams across clinical development, medical affairs, market access, and commercial strategy, the company said.
Assembled Intelligence’s “dual evolution and revolution approach” to AI will enable the platform to “supercharge” its services to new levels of excellence and performance and deliver them faster, bringing products to market faster than ever before, Lydiat said in an email.
“Our focus on ‘revolution’ allows us to connect business intelligence, healthcare data and behavioral science in ways never before possible, unlocking exciting new possibilities for our clients,” he said.
“The future will not belong to the companies that have adopted the most AI; it will belong to the companies that combine AI with the deepest expertise,” he added. “That’s the opportunity we’re building with Assembled Intelligence.”
Mr. Heman joined Assembled Intelligence in 2025 as Chief Integration Officer prior to the platform’s launch. The platform was founded in October 2025 by healthcare marketing company Minds + Assembly.
The launch also included the addition of Stratevi, a market access agency. It brings together intelligence services companies such as scientifically creative medical communications agency BoldScience, Stratevi, and boutique social media agency Hashtag Health, all of which are now part of Minds+Assembly, Hemann said.
Mr. Hemann became chief business officer in December.
Prior to joining Assembled Intelligence, Hemann served as Chief Integration Officer at Highwire, where he focused on building and expanding the company’s digital capabilities and evaluating merger and acquisition opportunities.
He joins Highwire after more than six years at Real Chemistry, most recently serving as President of General Activation, where he led the growth of the agency’s social and digital media activation division.
Assembled Intelligence and Minds + Assembly are backed by Amulet Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on healthcare. Amulet Capital Partners made a growth investment in the agency in May 2023 and has since helped expand its healthcare communications and commercialization platform with acquisitions such as Awaken Interactive and BoldScience.
