Terminal Aeroportuaria de Guayaquil SA (TAGSA), which manages the city of Guayaquil's José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport, selected Motorola Solutions' Avigilon Unity video security and access control solution to support safer and more efficient operations.
An on-premise security suite powered by AI simplifies video and access control management across multiple sites, and enables security personnel to more easily share video clips to improve awareness and collaboration.
Spanning 180 hectares and serving an average of 4 million passengers per year, Guayaquil Airport serves as a vital international air traffic terminal connecting Ecuador to more than 15 international cities. Avigilon Unity was selected to help mitigate security threats common to international airports around the world, from petty crime and robbery to organized crime and terrorism.

Motorola Solutions Avigilon security cameras are strategically placed throughout the airport to allow security personnel to monitor key locations. Video analytics can detect and notify personnel of anomalies that may indicate security threats, such as unusual crowd movement, unauthorized access to restricted areas or abandoned luggage.
Large areas of the airport have also been fitted with thermal cameras to improve visibility at night. These high performance cameras can cover vast areas, detect abnormal movements and pinpoint the location of intruders based on their heat signature within restricted areas. This has significantly enhanced security and detection capabilities in critical areas with little lighting.
