Grip of Confusion: UAE and the World Economic Forum launch global AI regulatory platform

In bidding for future prevention regulations amid the rapid technological disruption, the World Economic Forum has partnered with the UAE to launch an initiative aimed at overhauling how governments around the world respond to emerging technologies such as AI.

The Global Regulatory Innovation Platform (GRIP), announced on Friday in Geneva, promises to rethink the regulatory system of the “intelligent age.”

The purpose of the grip is to bridge the gap between policy and industry progress by bringing together governments, industry leaders and technology experts to co-design tools and frameworks that are as agile and adaptive as the technology they are trying to govern.

“Innovation moves rapidly — regulations must also be needed,” said Borge Blend, president of the World Economic Forum. “The grip allows governments to co-create agile, predictable and prepared policy framework for the technologies that shape our future.”
