Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Sunday that her government plans to take the lead in artificial intelligence (AI) and demonstrate how technology can empower all students, schools and communities.
“Delhi AI Grind will run for six months with the aim of bringing Delhi's schools, communities and industry together to develop solutions to real-world challenges. This is a major initiative to move Delhi forward as a hub for AI-based innovation,” she said while launching a city-wide initiative to prepare students for an AI-driven future.
Ms. Gupta said the initiative will reach more than 500,000 learners in more than 1,000 schools, colleges, industrial training institutes and universities.
Giving details about the program, Education Minister Ashish Sood said that within the next four months, Delhi AI Grind will train 5,000 teachers as certified AI mentors, develop 1,000 student-led prototypes, select 50 AI youth ambassadors and publish a national innovation compendium featuring ideas generated by Delhi's youth.
“Delhi's educational institutions will be transformed into proactive innovation labs. Students will identify civic and industry challenges and collaborate with government and industry to develop practical solutions,” Sood said.
Shubhanshu Shukla, Group Captain of the Indian Air Force and the first Indian astronaut to travel to the International Space Station, was also present at the launch event. “You are the future. I call you to action. You must strive to realize the goal of Vikshit Bharat by 2047,” the astronaut told the students in the audience.
