Google has introduced groundbreaking features to the Gemini app, allowing users to generate videos from static images powered by advanced VEO 3 models. Previously limited to AI Ultra subscription tiers, the tool is now available for Google AI Pro subscribers for the first time, indicating a significant increase in availability.

The Image-to-Video tool allows users to create 8-second video clips at 720p resolution and use audio directly from all images. However, Google has set certain restrictions. The video output is locked to a 16:9 landscape format. This may not be ideal for platforms like Instagram and Tiktok, where vertical video dominates it.

To use this feature, Gemini users can simply select the “Video” option under the “Tools” menu of the app. Additionally, the feature is integrated with Google's Flow, an AI-driven film production app, and is now expanding to 75 new countries, increasing global reach. This integration helps streamline the process of turning static images into short, dynamic video content, making it easier for content creators and marketers to leverage AI in their workflows.

The feature was originally deployed for desktop users, with mobile access expected by the end of the weekend. The $20/month AI Pro subscription will allow users to access this image-to-video tool, while the AI Ultra plan, priced at $250 per month, offers additional features and features.

What's particularly interesting is how this changes the landscape of content creation. Because AI tools like these are more accessible, creative video content could surge from users who traditionally created only static images. This could lead to a rise in a new wave of visual storytelling, where short-form videos are being made from photographs and illustrations, and challenge the domination of traditional video production.
