After adding Personal Intelligence to Gemini as an opt-in experience, Google announced that it will also integrate the feature into the AI mode of Search. Personal Intelligence pulls information from Google apps and tailors responses based on your history and interests. Specifically for search, Personal Intelligence can help you find information in your Gmail account or Google Photos library.
For example, if you use AI mode to enable new features and purchase clothing, Google may recommend items or models from brands you have previously purchased. If you check your flight or other reservations in Gmail, Google may also recommend certain products based on your destination or season, if you’re shopping for clothing for a trip.
Personal Intelligence is powered by Google’s Gemini 3 AI model. The company says it doesn’t use information from your Gmail inbox or Google Photos Library to train the model, but instead uses user prompts and AI mode responses. Google also warned that the feature’s recommendations may feel inaccurate because the context may not be fully understood or the connections between separate topics may be incorrect.
Currently, Personal Intelligence is an experimental feature rolling out in Labs starting today. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S. who use the service in English will automatically have access to the service and will be able to connect AI Mode to Gmail and Google Photos. However, this is only available for personal Google accounts and not yet for Workspace accounts.
