Google opens applications for group 10 of African startup accelerator for AI-driven scientific advances

Google on Thursday announced the start of recruitment for the 10th batch of Google for Startups Accelerator Africa. This milestone edition marks nearly a decade of support for Africa’s technology ecosystem and strengthens our commitment to accelerating AI-driven science and technology advances across the continent.
The 12-week “AI First” hybrid program is designed for Series A startups based in Africa or those that are using AI and machine learning to build Africa-centric solutions. Attendees will benefit from access to Google’s AI expertise and technical resources, as well as mentorship from experienced AI experts, valuable networking opportunities, and more.
Folarin Aiyegbusi, head of Africa’s startup ecosystem, said: “Africa’s technology landscape is witnessing a dynamic shift towards deep technology innovation.” “For Class 10, we are focused on the potential of AI to advance health and social benefits, and we are providing the infrastructure and expertise to transform these startups into research institutions on the continent.”
Since its launch in 2018, the Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa program has supported more than 180 startups in 17 African countries. Collectively, these startups have raised more than $350 million in funding and created more than 3,700 direct job opportunities in the region.
Applications will be accepted from today until March 18, 2026.
