Google has announced an extension to the Gemini Application Programming Interface (API) of VEO 3, the latest AI video generation model, allowing developers to integrate advanced video creation tools into their own apps and platforms.
The Mountain View Headquarted Company, revealed in a blog post on Thursday, confirmed that VEO 3 is accessible through Google AI Studio. The platform provides developers with tools such as software development kit (SDK) templates and interactive starter apps that aim to simplify the integration process. Access to the API is restricted to users with paid subscriptions or valid API keys.
Regarding pricing, the VEO 3 is located at $0.75 (approximately £65) Video and audio output per second. As a result, generating an 8-second clip costs developers about $6 (approximately £520), a one-minute video can cost up to $45 ( £3,900). In contrast, the VEO 2 was priced more modestly at $0.50 (almost about $0.50) £43) Every second.
VEO 3 supports video generation with resolutions of up to 720p, 24 frames per second, and 16:9 aspect ratio. Each video also includes synced AI-generated audio. To prevent misuse, Google has confirmed that in all output it will continue to include SynthID digital watermark, a measure designed to identify AI-generated content and prevent it from being used in creating misinformation and deepfalks.
Google has announced plans to launch the Veo 3 Fast with an eye on the future. This is a more affordable version of the model, but no specific timeline for release is provided.
VEO 3, first introduced in Google I/O 2025, was first made available to Google AI Pro (formerly Gemini Advanced) and Google AI Ultra Subscribers. However, this feature remains inaccessible to users of the free tier of the Gemini platform.
The expansion of VEO 3 to the Gemini API is expected to accelerate the development of generated video applications, particularly as demand for AI-driven multimedia tools across the industry increases.
