Google software engineer Christina Ernst has created the “world's first AI dress,” sparking a social media debate. Christina, who is also the founder of the website shebuildsrobots.org, shared a short video of her “Robot Medusa Dress” on Instagram, which has been viewed more than 3 million times so far.
“I designed and finally finished my robotic snake dress,” Christina wrote in the video's description, adding, “I used artificial intelligence to detect faces and coded the best mode to move the snake's head towards the person looking at it. So this might be the world's first AI dress. We're a surveillance state and we're making fashion out of it.”
Her black dress features several robotic snakes, one of which is wrapped around her neck.

There were mixed reactions in the comments section, with some users criticizing Christina's work, but most viewers appreciated Medusa's dress and praised Christina for creating such a great piece.
“Look what designers are going to steal this and wear to the next Met Gala,” one user commented, while another wrote, “This is insanely impressive. Every comment should be nerdy. You're ridiculously good. This is the coolest right brain left brain crossover ever.”
Some viewers were quite rude, calling her work “boring,” while others went so far as to call it “terrible.”
Christina Ernst, who has about 200,000 followers on Instagram, has been working on the Medusa dress for several weeks, documenting the process in several videos posted to her account.
