BD8 Capital Partners CIO Barbara Doran talks about how companies are valued in the age of AI on Making Money.
Exclusive: google The company is donating $10 million to the Manufacturing Institute to support new artificial intelligence (AI) training for 40,000 manufacturing workers, FOX Business has learned.
Funding for this effort comes from Google.org’s AI Opportunity Fund and will be donated to the Manufacturing Institute (MI), the nonprofit workforce development and education arm of the National Association of Manufacturers.
“Google has long been a technology partner for manufacturing, providing AI tools and cloud infrastructure to help manufacturers innovate and improve productivity,” Maggie Johnson, global head of Google.org, told FOX Business. “Through this initiative, our AI training courses will serve as the foundation for MI’s new AI curriculum for manufacturers.”
“This will enable manufacturing apprentices and workers to learn. Essential AI skills All Googlers across the company, from engineers to data analysts, participate. MI then tailors it to practical manufacturing scenarios that require the use of AI in daily operations,” Johnson added.

Google’s funding will enable the creation of two new courses for manufacturing professionals: AI 101 for Manufacturing and Advanced AI for Manufacturing Technicians. The 101 course adapts Google’s existing AI training to the manufacturing environment, while introducing advanced AI. manufacturing industry The Engineer Course is a new course developed by the Manufacturing Research Institute.
The Manufacturing Institute also plans to launch new Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) chapters in at least 15 new regions and include Advanced AI for manufacturing engineers in all FAME chapters.

“We work with manufacturing associations because we know that true innovation happens when people on the manufacturing floor have access to the technical tools and training they need to succeed,” Johnson said. “By supporting the expansion of new AI training and FAME apprenticeships for manufacturers, we are empowering current and next-generation workers to lead in this new industrial era.”
The partnership aims to address the growing shortage of skilled manufacturing workers across the U.S. workforce by ensuring workers have the technical skills to fill their roles using AI tools, which is expected to total nearly 1.9 million. manufacturing jobs By 2033.
Manufacturing Institute Director Carolyn Lee told FOX Business, “This training is designed to directly fill that gap by providing employees with context on how they can apply AI in real-world manufacturing settings. When manufacturers have employees who can effectively use these tools, they can deploy advanced technology faster, operate more efficiently, and remain competitive on the world stage.”

Lee also acknowledged that there is a human side to integration. AI in manufacturingsays, “There’s fear with AI, fear of the unknown and how these technologies will impact work. It can be scary, but the best way to combat it is with proper communication and skills training.”
That’s why part of the effort is to “demystify AI and give employees the foundational skills they need to use AI today,” she said.
