In February, Google released the Gemma open source language model and at the same time launched a special education fund worth 25 million euros to teach Europeans about this very artificial intelligence. And now this program is also available in Ukraine.
We are talking about the Google.org program AI Opportunity Fund: Europeprogram. This is being carried out in collaboration with the Center for Public Impact as part of the broader AI Opportunity Initiative for Europe. The goal of this initiative is to make AI accessible and safe for everyone, from housewives to plumbers. The program prioritizes the most vulnerable segments of society who are most at risk from the development of AI technologies. The initiative's main goals include supporting AI startups focused on socially important issues and expanding access to free AI courses to gain the necessary knowledge and skills. Masu.
What does Google actually offer as part of this effort? We offer grants and intensive training programs. The total budget for Ukraine is 700,000 euros. It will be distributed to nonprofit and public organizations selected through an open competition.Winners will receive a special training program in UkrainianCovers basic knowledge of artificial intelligence. We also promise comprehensive support and counseling.
Google is already accepting applications on the program's website using the online form below. The application period lasts until June 28, 2024. Applications are open to all not-for-profit and civil society organizations or social enterprises, including trade unions, trade associations, local authorities, charities and professional associations. The main criterion is whether it specializes in working with people who need to feel confident in using artificial intelligence tools in their professional activities.
You can also find ChPs (Answers to Frequently Asked Questions) about the program on a special landing page on Google.org.
