Google Ads is rolling out Google AI audio models as a new asset optimization feature for video ads. This is for existing P-MAX video ads.
Google sent an email to some advertisers saying, “P-MAX is rolling out new asset optimization features to improve the viewing experience for video ads. Add realistic narration to video ads using Google AI audio models to improve user engagement and ad performance.”
Arpan Banerjee posted about this on LinkedIn and said, “Google’s AI automatically adds realistic narration to your silent P-MAX video ads, pulled directly from your unique headlines and descriptions.”
This feature selects from the headlines/descriptions provided by the advertiser, generates a narration from that text, overlays it onto the base video, and saves it as a new video asset. The voice-over feature only applies if your ad doesn’t already include audio.
Google said you can opt out of this by opting out of the video extension controls by March 20, 2026. “On March 20, 2026, all ads that have video enhancement controls turned on will be able to serve audio enhanced versions of videos. For ads that have already opted out of video enhancement controls, you don’t need to do anything,” Google added.
