Genetec aims to introduce new intelligent automation-driven investigation capabilities in its Security Center SaaS solution, increasing the speed and efficiency of operators finding video evidence and understanding incident contexts.
Today, many organizations face long and complex investigations, and often require manual review of video footage and manually checking the switching between different systems. The latest expansion of the Security Center SaaS is trying to address this challenge by streamlining workflows into a single, intuitive platform.
The system allows operators to search for people and vehicles using natural language and advanced filters, both live and recorded footage. In addition to simplifying searches, this solution automatically complements contextual insights, including information about nearby activities, what happened before and after an incident, and identification of individuals with similar appearances.
This development aims to alleviate the guessing operators that come with deciding which camera feed to focus on, and remove the need to review multiple video sources and rebuild the timeline of incidents using several separate tools.
Open Architecture
The Security Center SaaS is developed on an open architecture platform, allowing compatibility with a wide range of cameras and devices from a wide range of manufacturers. This flexibility allows organizations to choose hardware that meets their requirements, not limited to a single supplier. By leveraging metadata from a variety of camera models, operators can use new, advanced search capabilities to quickly access more accurate, contextual information.
“We are committed to providing a range of services to our customers,” said Jonathan Doyon, Senior Product Group Director, Genetec.
“Security experts are often under pressure to quickly analyze large volumes of videos and data according to critical incidents, especially in the case of a critical incident. Our new intelligent search provides research teams with a faster, more intuitive way to find relevant evidence, stitching together timelines and sharing results safely. What kind of innovation security teams have been asking for, is just the beginning.”
Important features
One important addition is intelligent search. This allows users to start an IA-equipped investigation directly from the video player by selecting a person, vehicle, or object. The system adjusts the search workflow to your operator's choice and initiates the associated processes. This says we are reducing our guesses and speeding up our investigation.
The nearby activity feature provides a means to determine the events that took place before and after a particular incident. Investigators can find people and vehicles detected near scenes within a set time window. This allows you to establish contextual information about suspicious activity and to see patterns of movement relative to a particular reference image.
The system also provides entry and X detection, helping to identify the exact moment when a person, vehicle, or object enters or leaves the camera's view. This feature facilitates quick review of scene changes and provides accurate data for incident analysis and official reporting.
Another tool, similar people, use advanced similarity detection to find individuals with similar visual characteristics on multiple cameras, even in complex cameras, multisites, and multivendor environments. This solution accomplishes this by creating a unique digital profile for each person based on visual information.
Availability and privacy protection
The new research feature will be available to all Security Center SaaS users from late September. According to GeneTec, this upgrade allows operators to search, review and export video evidence more quickly, while maintaining traceability and privacy protection throughout the process.
