According to a report from the World Economic Forum, automation could evacuate 75 million jobs by 2025, but 133 million new jobs will be created, many of which will require AI and machine learning skills. The same report highlights that AI and machine learning will create 97 million new jobs by 2025, with the majority in the tech industry.

Generating AI is a rapidly evolving field with enormous career opportunities in a variety of industries, including high-tech, healthcare, entertainment, finance and more. The roles of AI research scientists, machine learning engineers, creative AI developers and more are in high demand. Generator AI is not just for people with technical backgrounds. Applications are available in creative fields such as art, music, and writing, making it an exciting field for arts majors to explore.

Genai excels at product descriptions, social media content, and generating personalized marketing for a diverse audience. Generation AI helps writers overcome blocks, propose creative text structures, and translate languages. When it comes to visuals, AI can create realistic images from scratch based on descriptions, or creatively modify existing images. Examples include Dall-E 2, Leonardo and Midi Joanie. In music, Mubert, Soundful and Aiva like Generative AI can compose original works across genres, inspire musicians and enhance the soundtrack of the media.

Vocalid and Synthesizer-V allow you to customize digital voices for those who rely on synthetic speech. For developers, Microsoft Copilot AI can also automate repetitive coding tasks and write entire programs. Synthesia, Heygen and Invidio are generative AI for creating realistic videos with digital avatars and voices.

Level up your skills

To become part of this revolution, start building your skills. Here are a few steps to help you.

Basic AI literacy: For non-technical people, start with an introduction course to AI and machinery and learn to understand the basic concepts. Platforms such as Coursera, Edx and Khan Academy offer accessible courses.

Mastering basics of the underlying AI algorithm: For engineers, focus on machine learning, natural language processing, and other core AI concepts. Python is the go-to language for ML and AI. Be familiar with libraries such as Tensorflow, Pytorch, Keras and more. These tools simplify model development and experimentation. Practice coding and implement simple ML models to gain hands-on experience. Understand concepts such as neural networks, backpropagation, optimization algorithms, variational autoencoders (VAEs), generation adversarial networks (GANS), and recurrent neural networks (RNNs). More advanced students should consider pursuing a master's degree or advanced course in an AI or data science-related field. Advanced degrees offer deeper expertise and research opportunities in this field.

Focus on real applications: Generation AI is more than just coding. Sometimes it can be used without a coding experience. Explore how it is used in creative fields such as art and writing, such as software development, science, and marketing. A balanced perspective will make you a leader.

Learn by doing things: Get a hands-on experience in building and training generative AI models. Participate in coding challenges, hackathons, and AI contests that include writing, creating images, or translation. Play around with different model architectures and really understand how they work. Engage with the AI and creative community online and offline. Join forums, attend meetups, participate in workshops and conferences.

Here's a look at your skills: Build projects that demonstrate the ability to create secure and beneficial generation AI applications. Contribute to open source projects, write blog posts, and join the online community. Find a mentor who has experience in integrating AI with the creative field. Their guidance can provide valuable insights and career advice.

Use domain knowledge for double impact: Companies need people who can use this powerful technology to improve their operations and products. Imagine combining generative AI skills with in-depth knowledge in a particular field, such as medicine or software development. You are very popular.

The generative AI revolution has just started and transformed the world. According to an International Data Corporation (IDC) report, the global AI market is expected to reach $190 billion by 2025, with the majority of growth being driven by AI adoption in industry. This is your chance to become a part of it from the first floor. Develop the right skills and keep ethics in mind. You are in high demand. Imagine the incredible things you can create. This isn't easy, but hard work pays off. You have the opportunity to make a real difference to the world. Become a research pioneer, corporate leader, and even the founder of an AI startup. The future is yours. Take this opportunity to create your mark!
