However, if the PS6 launch is delayed, Sony may want to make more use of its existing PS5 Pro in the meantime.

This is not the first time we have implemented frame generation on the console. PS5 already offers AMD FSR3 frame generation in some games, but FSR3 lacks machine learning support. Instead of the AI ​​imagining what should be between frames, it interpolates between actual frames.

Nvidia and AMD typically caution that frame generation is not a solution to low frame rates, as the technology first requires a relatively stable frame rate to work. I don’t usually use this on handheld games. I usually prefer to leave it off since I might only get 30-40 fps to begin with in a title, and on desktop I can easily get 90 fps at higher settings. However, there are also some edge cases that enjoy it.
