New Delhi: Air India completed inspections on Tuesday and said it has discovered that it has found that the Fuel Control Switch (FCS) lock mechanisms on all Boeing 787 Dreamliner and AI Express Boeing 737 are not faulty.The check has ordered Indian airlines to inspect FCS on all Boeing aircraft following a July 14th order from the DGCA. The move came after the crash of AI-171 in Ahmedabad on June 12th. Both engines of the London-bound Dreamliner lost power into the air soon after takeoff.According to a preliminary investigation, when the FCS switches on Engines 1 and 2 moved from “run” to “cutoff” (one cutoff after one cutoff), the fuel supply was cut off with a 1-second gap. Investigators have not yet decided why the switch will be migrated.“Air India has completed preventive testing regarding the locking mechanism of the FCS in the Boeing 787 and 737 fleets,” the airline said in a statement. “This ensures that the two airlines are compliant with the DGCA's July 14th directive. No issues were found.” The airline said the results were shared with the DGCA and reaffirmed its “commitment to passenger and crew safety.”The US Federal Aviation Administration issued a special aircraft information bulletin in December 2018, and issued a warning about the potential release of the FCS lock mechanism on some Boeing aircraft. Air India had not previously acted because Saib was an advisory and not mandatory.
