From masala dosa to machine learning: Tejasvi Surya talks to Sergio Gol about India-US relations in Bengaluru

BJP leader Tejasvi Surya on Monday shared a glimpse of his meeting with recently appointed US Ambassador to India Sergio Gol. The two leaders discussed expanding India-US partnership in the areas of trade, technology and innovation. Hailing Bengaluru’s role in India’s development story, Surya said that as a city that blends tradition with cutting-edge innovation, Bengaluru truly epitomizes the journey from masala dosa to machine learning.

He also introduced the US envoy Go to Namma Auto in Bangalore, calling it “a truly memorable ride.” Surya met him at Filter Coffee in Indiranagar and they both had masala dosa and strong coffee. The BJP leader stressed that Bangalore plays an important role in strengthening economic and people-to-people ties between the two democracies.

“I am delighted to welcome US Ambassador to India Sergio Gol to Bengaluru today,” Surya said in a post on X. “Over masala dosa and strong coffee at Filter Coffee in Indiranagar, we had a fascinating conversation about the growth of the India-US partnership, including trade, technology and innovation, especially after the Interim Trade Agreement.”

On Bengaluru being the center of economic relations between India and the US, Surya said over 700 US companies are based in Bengaluru and 43 per cent of India’s software exports come from India’s Silicon Valley.

“Bengaluru, home to 40% of India’s GCC countries, continues to drive innovation-driven partnerships between our two democracies,” he wrote.

Initially on Monday, Surya held a review meeting with senior government officials. Gail (India) Limited progress on city gas distribution work in Jayanagar and Basavanagudi. He strives to ensure seamless execution and close coordination among government agencies to deliver much-needed public services to the people as soon as possible.
