The lawsuit was registered after the complaint was filed by the convener of the BJP Delhi election cell, Sanket Gupta, ANI reported.
The FIR was registered by Delhi police after Congress' Bihar forces shared a “deepfake” video generated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother AI on social media platform X, PTI reported.
The complaint was filed on Friday by Sanket Gupta of BJP Delhi Election Cell at North Avenue Police Station. He argued that the video “impaired the prime minister's image and breached the law, morality and the dignity of women.”
This case is registered against unknown persons on the basis of sections 336 (forged), 340 (2) (forged documents or electronic records, and using them as authentic), 352 (intentional insults with the intention of promoting violations of peace), 356 (2) (defamation) and 61 (2) (intentional insults to promote criminal conspiracy).
Gupta filed a police complaint on Friday, seeking to register a lawsuit against Congress and its leaders over the AI-generated video.
According to the report, Congress's Bihar forces were sharing a video generated by the AI of Prime Minister Modi's late mother, “the prime minister is seen dreaming of his late mother criticizing him for his politics in Bihar, tied to the vote.”
The 36-second clip, marked “AI-generated” with the caption “MAA appears in Sahab's Dreams,” has been widely shared online. The BJP and its allies called it “shameful” in Congress over the video, wondering how low the opposition would be to target Modi.
