Jisc’s National AI Center Begins Piloting of TeacherMatic to Reduce Staff Burden and Help Teachers Prioritize Education over Administration
Jisc helps UK’s FE University explore ways AI can reduce staff workload with TeacherMatic, an AI-based tool specifically designed to make teachers’ lives easier doing.
With the support of Jisc’s National Center for AI in Higher Education, teachers at eight universities learned how TeacherMatic frees up teachers’ time using AI to perform routine tasks such as lesson planning and resource creation. , consider allowing teachers to take precedence over teaching. Administrators guide and help students become more effective in the classroom.
“This project with TeacherMatic is part of Jisc’s commitment to enhancing the skills, understanding and readiness of FE University for a digital future,” said Sue Attewell, Head of AI and Code Design at Jisc. increase. “This pilot will allow all participants to learn more about the positive impact of using AI. You can improve your skills.”
TeacherMatic uses generative AI to create high-quality classroom resources in a fraction of the time it normally takes. Teachers can create a variety of materials such as lesson plans, work plans, evaluation scoring criteria, and multiple-choice quizzes to check learning status by simply entering a desired theme. Easy-to-use tools also allow you to customize materials to meet individual learner needs.
During the 12-month pilot, staff are given time and training to experiment with AI. In the first phase, JISC and participating universities will work with TeacherMatic to identify where they can add the most value. Participants then use TeacherMatic directly while Jisc gathers feedback and assesses their benefits. Once complete, the report will be published so that other institutions can learn about the effects of using AI to create resources.
“AI can be intimidating, but instead of fearing technology, teachers should be confident that AI can be used to alleviate some of the challenges they face on a daily basis,” said Peter Kilcoyn, Director of TeacherMatic. says Mr. “Our goal is to show how AI can reduce workload, increase productivity, and ultimately achieve a better work-life balance, so that a teacher can leverage her AI. It’s about helping people grow in their own way.”
