Experts at the 2nd Africa Climate Summit highlight the need to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the resilience of Africa's agriculture and energy sectors.
According to a report from ENA, a partner at TV BRICS, the summit panelists highlight the potential of AI to improve climate forecasts, enhance resource management and accelerate the shift towards renewable energy.
Experts at the 2nd African Climate Summit held at Addis Ababa highlighted the opportunities and challenges of data, funding and governance.
Ousmane Ndiaye, director of the African Weather Application Centre Development Centre (ACMAD), said AI can change climate forecasts.
Emmanuel Manasseh, regional director of the International Communications Union (ITU) in Africa, optimized energy use amid rapid urbanization and highlighted the role of AI in the development of “smart cities.”
Participants urged policymakers to prioritize investments in AI-driven agricultural projects, such as virtual advisory platforms for farmers.
