The European Commission will launch an investigation into a video created using artificial intelligence and posted on TikTok that includes a call for Polexit (Poland's exit from the European Union). Poland calls the materials Russian disinformation and wants Brussels to take the lead in the investigation. This information was published in the RMF24 report.

The video features a young woman wearing a costume emblazoned with the national symbol of Poland, which is calling for Poland to leave the European Union.

In late 2025, Deputy Minister of Digital Technology Dariusz Standerski wrote a letter to the European Commission, pointing out signs of an organized disinformation campaign that threatens security and democratic processes both in Poland and the EU. He called on Brussels to launch an investigation and take surveillance measures against TikTok.

European Commission spokeswoman Ewa Hruncilova said the Commission's operations would establish contact with Polish authorities to clarify the details and check whether the video complies with the EU Digital Services Act (DSA). She said under the law, large online platforms, including TikTok, would have to assess all risks arising from their services, including risks related to artificial intelligence. The commission is “actively monitoring TikTok's compliance with EU digital law.” Funsilova also noted that in March 2024, she requested internet platforms, including TikTok, to provide information on “measures taken to counter risks associated with artificial intelligence.”

European Commission reaction and further action

Polish government spokesman Adam Schwapka emphasized that the video was Russian disinformation.

“The narrative presented is completely inconsistent with Polish interests and consistent with Russian logic.”

Poland has repeatedly documented disinformation campaigns on social networks aimed at undermining trust in the EU and national institutions.

In general, the European Commission notes that it monitors TikTok's compliance with EU digital law in the field of digital services and assesses the risks associated with artificial intelligence, particularly in the context of applications that may affect EU public policy or security.
