New Delhi: Artificial intelligence must not become a force that replaces humans or a threat to human autonomy. Its fundamental role must be to augment humanity’s unique individual capabilities, Fujitsu President and CEO Takahito Tokita said on Friday.

To fully integrate AI into society and business, a strong and reliable AI infrastructure is essential, Tokita said at the AI ​​Impact Summit here.

“Fujitsu’s purpose is to build trust in society through innovation and make the world more sustainable,” he added.

Outlining the company’s vision for an AI-driven society, he said, “AI must never become a force that replaces humans or a threat to human autonomy.”

Mr. Tokita further stated that “its foundation, its fundamental role must be to enhance unique human abilities, creativity, critical thinking, and complex judgment.”

To accomplish that, he said the company is deeply committed to collaborating with leaders in all industries and pioneering researchers in academia and government agencies around the world.

“These powerful objectives allow us to work together and jointly establish the standards, ethics, and governance needed to ensure that AI always serves humanity’s best interests,” Tokita added.

He argued that “a strong and reliable AI infrastructure is essential to fully integrating AI into our societies and businesses.”
