Enfield Council has partnered with VisionTrack to lead the field in road safety and stay at the forefront of fleet innovation. Working closely with existing video telematics partners, the Borough of London has developed an advanced AI-powered vehicle camera solution for the first fully electric garbage truck (RCV). The Renault E-Tech D Wide 26 Ton Truck was specially designed by the Enfield Council and Renault Trucks to create the most advanced and high performance waste management vehicle available today.
“Our aim was to bring together class-leading technology to develop the electric RCV of the future that will help us meet our sustainability, duty of care and road safety goals,” said Enfield Council Environmental Minister. Chief of Staff Rick Jewell said. “Working with Vision Trucks will enhance protection for residents, garbage collection teams and other road users.”
The video telematics solution combines four AI cameras for 360-degree visibility and vulnerable road user (VRU) detection, as well as two side mirror cameras and an external speaker for audible left turn warnings. Intelligent detection cameras use deep learning technology to identify pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles and scooters while ignoring street furniture.
Configurable safety zones eliminate blind spots around the vehicle and help drivers know the exact location of nearby VRUs. The video is automatically displayed on the in-cab monitor and an audio warning is added. Traffic safety insights (such as footage of crashes, near-misses and severe driving events) are also uploaded to the Autonomise.ai IoT platform, giving Enfield Council a complete picture of driver, vehicle and fleet risk.
The ultra-quiet Renault Trucks E-Tech D wide low entry cab with CP Davidson Titan trash body is the first of four to be delivered, serving local families To do. The electric RCV has been in development for over a year, with Enfield Council and Renault Trucks working together to create a prototype that meets the exact needs of the large and busy London Borough. Extensive testing and road trials at Enfield have demonstrated excellent performance levels, reliability and battery life.
Richard Kent, President, Global Sales vision truck “As a long-standing partner of the Enfield Council, we have leveraged our proven video telematics technology to support the Enfield Council’s road safety strategy for many years. advances in waste collection vehicles to provide breakthrough solutions for innovative waste collection vehicles, especially in urban environments in terms of 360-degree visibility, people detection and vehicle risk mitigation. It demonstrates the potential of an intelligent camera solution for heavy-duty vehicles.”
