Elon Musk issued dire warnings about the future of AI as he launched his company.
The news comes as Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg is also working on his own AI plans.
On July 12th, Musk tweeted, “Announcing the formation of @xAI to make sense of reality.”
The AI company’s website states that its goal is to “understand the nature of the universe.”
More information about xAI will be published in the future.
So far, the xAI team includes engineers and developers from Microsoft, DeepMind, and OpenAI.
Musk plans to host a Twitter Spaces event on July 14 to provide more details.
Earlier, Musk shared with listeners on Twitter Spaces following the xAI announcement, “It’s important to worry about the future of the Terminator to avoid it.”
Musk has previously called for an end to the global AI race.
He repeated the message, telling his followers: It seems unrealistic. “
Zuckerberg’s Meta, meanwhile, is working on an AI product to rival ChatGPT.
Zuckerberg previously released a free AI tool for researchers, according to The Telegraph.
But now the Meta founders are planning a version that companies can use.
Initially, there will be no cost to use the tool, but eventually there will be a charge, The Telegraph reported.
In addition, Google is also beginning to work on expanding its AI services.
The company’s AI tool, Bard, was recently updated to add 40 more languages.
