With artificial intelligence (AI) offering unprecedented opportunities to improve learning outcomes and the technology now so easy for students to adopt, educators will also need to update themselves and adapt to change, as simply imparting information will no longer be enough in the future.
This was a major talking point at the Tribune Principals' Conference on 'Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence' held in Ambala on Saturday. The function, organized by newspaper publisher Tribune Group in association with Chitkara University, was attended by around 60 educators and principals of various schools from Ambala, Yamunanagar and Kurukshetra districts.
Keynote speaker Commander Jagmohan Bhogal (retd) said, “Artificial intelligence is going to take our education system by storm. In the age of artificial intelligence, the most important thing will be how to prepare the school ecosystem to embrace this technology. We need to educate all the components of this education ecosystem and make them aware of how to handle this technology whenever it is introduced into schools.”
Surbhi Sharma, Head of Strategy and Planning, Chitkara University, shared the achievements of the university on this occasion.
The chief guest, District Education Officer (DEO) Sudhir Kalra, said, “AI can be beneficial if used effectively and positively and will help students get well-paying jobs in the future.”
