Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dubai Future Foundation, the AI Retreat is expected to bring together AI experts from government, the private sector and global tech giants at the Museum of the Future on Tuesday, June 11.
The ‘AI Retreat’ is the first event organised under the Dubai Artificial Intelligence Universal Blueprint (DUB.AI), organised by Dubai Artificial Intelligence Centre and in collaboration with the National Artificial Intelligence Programme, and aims to achieve this objective.
The event will bring together over 1,000 AI experts, policymakers and industry leaders to discuss the various challenges and opportunities posed by AI regionally and globally, and contribute to building foundational strategies for AI adoption across sectors.
The event will feature key sessions, panel discussions, expert workshops and high-profile roundtables centred around four key themes: funding and finance, infrastructure, data enablement and workforce development.
The meeting aims to strengthen Dubai's position as a global AI hub and build a better future for humanity by facilitating direct and open communication between leadership and the public and private sectors to share goals, creative ideas, innovative projects, best practices and success stories to drive progress in the field.
His Excellency Omar Sultan AlOlama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications and Deputy Managing Director of DFF, stressed the importance of identifying AI opportunities early and accelerating the development of solutions that contribute to a better future for the economy and society, noting that the UAE was one of the first countries to adopt a national initiative on AI adoption and development.
He added: “Under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the directives and supervision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, Dubai has developed a comprehensive and flexible plan to accelerate the adoption of AI applications and establish Dubai as a global AI hub.”
Al Olama concluded: “The AI Retreat delivers an integrated set of pillars to position Dubai as a global destination for AI innovation that will drive development, support the digital economy and enhance the country's future-readiness.”
His Excellency noted that the UAE has become a leader in fostering international partnerships to unleash the potential of AI. In line with this convening role, the AI Retreat will bring together stakeholders to map out and develop future strategies to harness the potential of AI.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed launched DUB.AI in April, a plan focused on unleashing the power of technology to enhance quality of life. The plan focuses on AI governance and the adoption of AI in key sectors to improve both society and the economy.
The plan aims to provide a business-friendly environment to provide an optimal ecosystem for AI companies and talent from around the world. DUB.AI aims to boost the digital economy and increase productivity by 50 percent, thereby contributing AED 100 billion annually to Dubai's economy and accelerating the adoption of AI applications in support of the goals of Dubai Economy Agenda D33.
