DSWD warns against AI-generated video promising support for P3K students

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Sunday warned the public not to be fooled by an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated video falsely promising cash assistance to students for the third quarter of the academic year.

In a Facebook post titled “Iwas-Scam Paalala para sa mga Estudyante in Pamilya,” the DSWD said the video claims that students who enroll in the so-called aid will receive a cash aid of P3,000.

However, AI-generated videos redirect viewers to affiliate marketing links.

DSWD said, “Makikita ito sa muga Facebook page na kilala sa pagpapakarat nga nakaka enganyo ngunito hindi veripikadon pahayag para sa mabilis na attention, hindi ito mula sa opusial na avison ahensha.”

(These can be found on Facebook pages known for spreading attractive but unconfirmed announcements to get attention. These are not official announcements from the authorities.)

DSWD's post was accompanied by a screenshot of an AI-generated video claiming that students from elementary school to middle school can avail of the P3,000 “3rd grade cash subsidy.”

The agency advised the public to scrutinize social media posts that promise financial support or cash.

“Dapat Tayong knows Mapanuri very well. I have confirmed reliable information from official sources,” he said.

(We should always be critical. Check if the content comes from reliable and official sources.)

“Dear Sama, DSWD, you call fake news labanan ang malin impolmashion dahir!” DSWD added.

(Fake news is prohibited at DSWD, so let's fight misinformation together!)

DSWD also appealed to the public to verify such claims through its official website and official social media accounts.
