The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Monday warned the public about an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated video spreading false information about relief supplies distributed by the department during disasters.

In a Facebook post, DSWD denied the allegations in the video and assured that the rescue operations followed strict standards and processes.

“AI-generated video on social media shows relief supplies being delivered to fraudulent kawnyay sa mga in nagraraman, ibina bahagi, kagawaran chewing mei kalamidad,” it said.

(One piece of content circulating on social media is an AI-generated video containing false information about relief supplies distributed by the agency during disasters.)

“Magingat po tayo dahil may be ginagamit with magmukan and artificial intelligence (AI) content in marine run,” the DSWD added.

(Please be careful as some SNS content uses artificial intelligence to make it appear to be the truth and deceive you.)

The post was accompanied by a screenshot of what was said to be a fake video claiming that relief supplies distributed by DSWD were already spoiled.

The Agency assured that it remains committed to clear and orderly allocation of humanitarian relief aid, following strict standards and processes.

“Sa panahong lalong nagi makatotohanan, ganiton AI-generated content, mas mahalagan nagi mapanuri. In marin pahayag magbahagi para maiwasan ang kalituhan hawag basta maniwala,” the DSWD said.

(In this era where AI-generated content appears to be real, it’s even more important to be critical. To avoid confusion and fake news, don’t believe or share these easily.)

DSWD advised the public to follow its official social media accounts on Facebook, X, Youtube, Instagram and Viber and its official website for accurate and timely information. — Japan Meteorological Agency/GMA integrated news
