Manoj Tumu, an engineer at Gen-Z, tells the story of the town after breaking up with Mark Zuckerberg's social media company Meta. Job Switch is being debated as Manoj Tumu's salary reportedly was $400,000 or 3.36 crores on Amazon.
The 23-year-old Indian-American machine learning engineer is part of Meta's advertising research team, who has left Amazon. In recent media interactions, Tumu has been open to providing tips for successful AI and ML stream engineers. Below are five things he thinks will help young people gain better employment opportunities in an ever-competitive world of technology.
1. He reminds young people that personal projects will never outweigh their professional experience at CVS. When he decided to apply to Meta, Amazon and more, he completely removed the personal projects from his resume, giving his work experience a prominent one, Tumu said.
2. Don't lighten your internship, as such opportunities can be highlighted as experiences on your resume, Tumu pointed out. His message to young people is that they need to secure an internship while in college and use it wisely in CVS when the time comes. But some, like himself, are unable to do this, but then there is a contract role that such candidates pick up after graduation. If you missed an internship, grab these roles.
3. It's always best to move straight while applying it. Instead of relying on referrals, his experience shows that job seekers need to apply directly through the company's website and LinkedIn. According to Tumu, make sure the CVS is well made and error free.
4. When choosing between machine learning and traditional software engineering, Tumu chose the latter despite two low-wage roles. His priorities were to find something that matched his interests. The decision was crucial to help him secure his current position in the meta, he was quoted as saying.
5. Don't lighten the interview. Always prepare for behavioral interviews and adjust your responses to meet company principles. Customizing your answers according to your employer's core values, remember that his interview process in Meta includes screening calls and includes 4-6 rounds of coding, machine learning, and behavioral assessment over six weeks.
