“Docusign’s new AI-assisted signing experience changes that by providing a simple, easy-to-understand overview of contracts with important terms,” says the new AI feature Docusign announced on January 13, 2026.
Signers can also ask questions such as “What if I need to cancel?” or “When does this warranty expire?” Get a direct answer without having to read through pages and pages of legal documents. Complex contracts are now easier to understand and people can sign them faster and with confidence. ”
Thankfully, it’s not automatic. You should always have the original contract available so you can see exactly what you are signing. To start the process,[AI]button must be clicked.
How does this happen? Docusign says it uses AI trained specifically for contract terminology, rather than general-purpose large language models (LLMs) that are a bit of everything. Most AIs are trained with general-purpose LLM.
Docusign’s AI also works by “identifying the agreement type, verifying recipient details, and intelligently placing signatures and information fields on the agreement.”
There’s no excuse not to read all of your most important contracts, but there’s a good reason to use AI capabilities to get the gist of your documents, restore them to their original language, and make sure you don’t miss anything.
