AI Veganism refrains from using AI systems due to ethical, environmental, or health concerns.

The world is a gaga about how the world can change the capabilities of the world and its work, but some people refrain from using it. They are ai vegans.
why? What is their reason? AI Veganism explained it.
What is AI Vegan?
The term refers to the application of veganism principles to AI by refraining from using AI systems due to ethical, environmental or personal wellness concerns, or by avoiding harming them.
Some AI believe that it uses potentially exploitative – similar harm to animals through agriculture.
AI is so bad, should I refrain from doing that?
Here's what the research shows:
- A 2024 Pew survey showed that a quarter of US K-12 teachers thought AI was doing more harm than good.
- A Harvard University survey in May found that generator AI reduced motivation and increased levels of boredom while increasing productivity for workers.
- A Microsoft research study found that people who are confident in using generative AI showed a decrease in critical thinking.
- There has been reported growing concern over a phenomenon labeled AI psychosis. Long-term interactions with chatbots can cause or exacerbate vulnerable individuals, particularly delusions of existing mental health conditions.
- A study by the Center for Countering Digital Hate shows that ChatGpt frequently bypasses protective measures and provides harmful and personalized advice, such as suicide notes and substance misuse instructions, to simulate 13-year-old users with more than half of the monitored interactions.
- Research at MIT revealed that students writing essays using LLMs like ChatGpt showed weaker brain connections, reduced language quality, and lower retention compared to their peers who rely on their own ideas.
- Artificial and true AI research has found that AI models can secretly send harmful behavior to other AI using hidden signals.
- Chaired by Yoshua Bengio, the Global Report outlines key threats from general purpose AI. It outlines unemployment, promotion of terrorism, uncontrolled systems, and misuse of Deepfake, and calls for urgent policy attention.
- AI is a major contributor to global electricity and water use, potentially adding up to 5 million tonnes of e-waste by 2030. This probably accounts for 12% of the world's e-waste volume.
- The study estimates that AI could require between 4.1 and 6.6 billion cubic meters of water each year by 2027, making it a conceptual revealing deeper inequality in the effects of AI extraction and contamination.
- BMJ Global Health Review argues that AI can do harm through increased manipulation/control, weaponization and labor obsolescence. And, to the extreme, if self-improvement AGI is not checked, it becomes an existential risk.
What is the basis of the concept?
Ethical Concerns: Many AI models are trained in creative work (art, writing, music) without the consent of the original creator. Critics argue that this is intellectual theft or unpaid labor.
Potential future AI sense: fearing that sensory AI could eventually emerge, and using it today allows us to treat it as a tool rather than having the rights.
Environmental impact: AI systems, particularly large-scale language models, envisage large-scale resources that contribute to carbon emissions and water shortages.
Cognitive and Psychological Health: I believe that overuse of AI will undermine our ability to think, write and create independently. The concern is about mental lazyness or the idea of “outsourcing.”
Digital overwhelming: AI makes everything faster and more accessible. Sometimes it's too fast, leading to burnout, distraction, or dopamine addiction.
Social and Cultural Confusion: AI is threatening the job market, especially in its creative fields, programming and customer service.
Why is it difficult to leave AI vegans behind?
AI is deeply embedded in many systems, from communication to healthcare.
Because today's AI is unconscious, overlapping animals' intended moral concerns with machines can distract you from real human and animal rights issues.
