Vercel’s AI Accelerator and New AI Tools
Front-end development platform Vercel saw an 800% increase in AI businesses launched on its platform in the first four months of the year.
“I’ve noticed something going on here in the community. [and] Our customers are very excited about AI and large language models,” Lee Robinson, vice president of developer experience at Vercel, told The New Stack. “We have tried to make it smooth for them to actually use our platform and products so that they can build a better experience.”
The company on Wednesday launched an AI accelerator program open to individual AI developers and early-stage startups interested in building and scaling AI solutions. Participants will benefit from coaching from AI experts and access capital and credit from AI partners. “
40 participants will be selected for the 6-week Program Accelerator. They have access to AI coaching from top AI experts through fireside chats and office hours, as well as support from Vercel’s developer experience team who act as accountability coaches.
“Members of the Vercel team, who have built many AI applications, understand what a great user interface looks like and how these tools fit together,” says Robinson. “It would be great if we could coach these builders to build something that people really want to use, so that they could be a company that actually raises money, for example.”
The 11 AI partners include OpenAI of ChatGPT fame, Hugging Face, an open source machine learning company, Anthropic, an AI safety and research company, and Replicate, a machine learning company. There is also early access to the new LangChain evaluation platform. These partners will provide over $850,000 in credits to be distributed among the participants in the accelerator program.
“These AI models can be computationally expensive depending on what you are trying to build, and you need access to these platforms to actually build your ideas,” he said.
Attendees will also have access to CRV investors who will be offering office hours and chatting by the fireside for deck feedback and guidance.
Vercel also announced its own AI support tools for customers, including:
- AI Playground: An interactive place where developers can test and experiment with AI technologies without setting up a local environment or deploying AI models on their own infrastructure.
- AI SDKs: The Vercel AI SDK is an open source library designed to enable developers to build conversational streaming text and chat user interfaces in JavaScript.
- chatbot plugin: Chatbot plugins allow businesses to develop and deploy their own chatbot solutions while maintaining control over their data. Vercel’s robust security features help organizations deploy chatbot solutions at scale while ensuring sensitive corporate data is protected. According to Robinson, the primary way developers build interfaces to his AI is through chatbots.
“We have a lot of developers who are really, really interested in AI,” he said. “Developers want to build these really great applications, and we try to provide the infrastructure, tools, and workflows to make that happen.”
Netlify to offer unified data layer
Web development platform Netlify launched Netlify Connect on Tuesday, which will provide front-end developers with “a clean, headless Graph QL API on top of a variety of content sources,” said Netlify CEO Matt Bilman at The told New Stack.
Connect will provide a unified data layer that enables organizations wishing to move from monolithic to composable architectures, the company said. He added that Notify Connect enables real-time content delivery across all websites and applications around the world. Beneath the Connect engine is a GraphQL API that allows users to connect to content sources and caches at the edge.
“Enterprises may adopt headless content platforms such as Contentful, Sanity, Contentstack, etc. to give front-end teams more freedom, but at enterprise scale, various existing content sources, e-commerce platforms, There are a lot of CMS systems out there and they’re never going away, any time soon,” Birman said. “A single data integration layer allows companies to decouple their front-end user experience layer from their existing monolithic CMS and application platforms, allowing web teams to use data from existing or new content sources to create world-class It gives us the freedom to create websites, online stores, and applications.”
Hack your home with the new Google Script Editor tool
Google on Tuesday made available a script editor tool that will further enhance automation for smart products powered by Google Home, The Verge reported this week. Script His Editor is part of a new home.google.com web interface and a preview of the new Google Home app launched Wednesday.
These automata allow developers to chain together multiple devices to automate tasks such as turning on lights or playing music. The script editor also offers more advanced automation options than are currently available in the existing Google Home app. Developers can submit the new Google Home app for public preview.
Google’s director of product management Anish Katukaran said in a blog post that the average home now has 25 connected devices. That’s up from 3 devices about 10 years ago. But despite a decade of progress, the devices are difficult to set up, don’t always work when you need them, don’t work well together, and require you to juggle multiple device apps, Katukaran said. said.
Google claims its new smart home connectivity standard, Matter, can help solve these problems. With Fast Pair for Matter, your Android phone will automatically detect your Matter device and help you set it up. With Google’s launch of Matter support later this year, Matter setup and app links will be available by default on billions of his Android devices, he said.
“We are working directly with top device makers to ensure that we support as many Matter-enabled devices as possible,” writes Kattukaran. “We are also updating existing Google Nest smart speakers, smart displays and routers to control Matter devices.”
According to Kattukaran, the Google Home app supports Matter devices, Nest, and 80,000 devices. The Google Home app provides a single place to set up, control and automate these home devices, he added.
