July 7, 2026 (MLN): Samsung Electronics is on track to achieve its best quarterly results in its history, with operating profit expected to soar nearly 19 times on the back of surging demand for AI memory chips.
The South Korean technology giant expects second-quarter operating profit for the April-June period to be about 89.4 trillion won ($58.8 billion), up from 4.68 trillion won in the same period last year, APP reported.
Quarterly sales are estimated at 171 trillion won, an increase of approximately 2.3 times from 74.57 trillion won in the same period last year.
The full earnings report, including net profit figures and segment breakdown, is expected to be released later this month.
If these numbers hold, this will be Samsung’s third consecutive quarter of sales and operating profit.
The jump in profits was driven primarily by strong demand for advanced memory chips used in AI data centers.
As tech companies continue to ramp up their AI infrastructure, tight semiconductor supplies are holding prices steady and boosting overall profits for major memory chip makers.
Samsung is also strengthening its position by expanding production and shipments of high-value memory products, including the latest high-bandwidth memory chips built for AI applications.
Meanwhile, as the entire industry shifts focus to advanced AI chips, supplies of traditional memory products are becoming tighter and prices continue to rise more broadly across the market.
